DINNER WITH 12 STRANGERS. That’s the email that would land in my inbox every month when I was an undergraduate at UCLA.
12 strangers: open to faculty + students of all age groups, race + ethnicity + all majors + professions + backgrounds. Looking back, I wish I had gone. But I was so shy and out of my element back then. I always say…if only I could go back knowing what I know now. I WOULD KILL IT!! Haha
So, it got me thinking…I would LOVE to do something like this (since, I love food + how it brings people together). If I can get enough people interested, I might start doing this on a regular basis. Plus, I’ve always had a diverse group of friends growing up. I think that’s so important. And if you don’t have a diverse circle, please try and reach out and get to know others. Listen to their stories (w/o judgement). Share your story. We, the human race could all learn so much from each other. We have way more in common than we think. I feel like it’s especially important to do so with the current state of affairs in our country + with the hate that is being promoted by certain individuals in power (but I won’t say who :P).
Dinner with 12 strangers anyone?! It would be like a potluck and we can bring a native dish and learn about each others cultures + share our experiences. Interested?! Please shoot me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the contact form here with subject: Dinner with 12 strangers.
UPDATE: We just set a dinner date on Saturday, April 21st. Location: TBA but will be in the Los Angeles area. I already have a handful of people who are coming but would love to fill up the remaining seats. Also, if you’re open to opening up your home to host or have any location ideas, please let me know!
P.S. I sometimes share recipes on my Insta-stories since I love food + love to cook. I will work on posting some recipes via my blog. 🙂 You can check out my recipe for my cod veggie stew below. Let me know what you think. ♥
